A man is out of the hospital after escaping from an attempted carjacking in Forest Park.
It happened around 2 a.m. Friday. Brandon said he was driving near N.E. 36th Street and Coltrane when he was rear-ended by a dark-colored SUV. When he got out of the car to speak with the driver, two men approached him with a rifle and demanded the car. They reportedly pointed the rifle and started shooting.
“It’s unbelievable,” said Brandon, who did not want to release his full name. “I thought it was a drunk driver, but it turned out they wanted to kill me.”
Brandon jumped back in to his 7-series BMW and drove off. Three bullets shattered the driver’s side window and damaged the dashboard.
The Forest Park Police Department is just half a mile away from where the shooting and carjacking took place. Brandon drove there to talk to authorities and an ambulance took him to a hospital. He was treated for lacerations on his head and face from the shattered glass. He is thankful he did not get shot.
“Their day is coming. The cops will get them,” said Brandon.
Police are still looking for the suspects. Brandon was not able to get a good look at the men, but said he does not know of anyone who would want to cause him harm.
