A small earthquake struck shortly before 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, near Blackwell, Oklahoma.
The 3.1 magnitude quake’s epicenter was located four miles north, northwest of Blackwell, 16 miles northwest of Ponca City, and 20 miles southwest of Arkansas City.
It was a little over four miles deep.
No injuries or damages associated with this earthquake have been reported at this time.
According to the United State Geological Survey (USGS), earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felts by humans. Damage is more likely with quakes at magnitudes 4.0 or higher.
