Oklahoma City Police homicide investigators are looking into the death of a man police arrested less than two weeks ago.
The man was hospitalized at the time of his death.
Lorez Chambers, 43, was arrested on June 9 in the backyard of a home at 1840 NW 10 Street.
The arresting officer reported Chambers showed signs of intoxication, and made lewd sexual gestures toward the arresting officer — who was a woman.
“When he was at the jail, he was medical screened, just like any other inmate,” said Oklahoma City Police Spokesman Paco Balderrama.
The medical staff found some injuries that they felt needed to be treated by a hospital.
Police say doctors at Integris Southwest Medical Center pronounced Chambers dead early Sunday.
Police say two nearby construction workers helped the arresting officer place Chambers in handcuffs during his arrest on June 9.
Police would like to talk to those construction workers again.
Balderrama said there were several witnesses as well.
