The City of El Reno says Lake El Reno will be closed to swimming for a public safety precaution until further notice. The decision comes after algae was noticed in a remote location of the lake about ten days ago.
Friday, July 1, the City posted advisory signs for citizens to be aware of the potential risks of swimming in the lake. The City says several water samples have been delivered to the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality for testing.
