Five Pokemon Go players were robbed at gunpoint last weekend. It happened along the canal in Bricktown just after midnight last weekend.
Thousands of Pokemon Go players continue to fill Bricktown night and day trying to catch Pokemon. But they aren't the only ones down here looking for something.
Faces glued to their phone, Pokemon Go players are easy to spot. It's great for other players looking to team up to catch the pocket monsters hiding around Bricktown, but also make an easy target for thieves.
“I didn't even hear them coming or nothing. I just got smoked up side of the back of the head with a half drank beer,” said Jimmy Luster.
It happened in the early morning hours last Saturday along the canal. Luster and a few friends met up to wander through Bricktown on a mission to "catch 'em all".
“Someone said "something rare" was over there by Toby Keith's and it really was there. That wasn't the set up,” said Luster.
Luster and his friends rerouted to capture the rare Pokemon, but instead were met by two men with their guns drawn.
“They asked me if I wanted to get popped, basically. And I was like, ‘No, not over [the] $22 in my wallet and a can of dip,’” said Luster.
The three boys emptied their pockets -- handing over all their valuables, including car keys, cell phones, chargers, wallets, and even Luster's prized Carolina Panther's ball cap.
And police say they weren't the only targets that night. Shortly after, another couple told police the men robbed them too.
“I've heard about people getting robbed and stuff like that, getting set up and Pokemon and all that. I was just kind of like, whatever, that's not going to happen to me,” said Luster
The victims were able to give a description of the two suspects, but so far no arrests have been made.
Though News 9 did learn some of the items from Luster's wallet were found near a church not far from where the robbery took place.
