Governor Mary Fallin signed a bill into law yesterday offering law enforcement officers in the field an extra layer of protection.
House Bill 2447 or the Blue Alert Act passed unanimously in the House and Senate. Now with the Governor's approval, it's ready to go into effect.
Blue Alert is similar to an Amber or Silver Alert, except for law enforcement.
Whenever an officer is killed or injured, a Blue Alert would go out to other law enforcement and the public.
