The White House press corps tried to stir up something Monday, but President Obama was having none of it.

During his news conference, he was baited several times by reporters to blast President-elect Trump as being unfit for the office, as Obama had said during the campaign, but he didn't take the bait.

He said certain traits that served Trump well on the campaign trail, like being quick to speak, wouldn't work as well in the White House, but after their meeting last week, Obama felt the president-elect recognizes that.

He also called Trump pragmatic, meaning he's sensible and realistic, a far cry from unfit for office.

He told upset Hillary Clinton supporters that the people have spoken, and that elections have consequences.

In fact, without saying it directly, he seemed to be questioning the strategy of the Clinton campaign for not making enough appearances, especially in rural America.

And then said he told President-elect Trump he was impressed with how he tapped into his supporters' enthusiasm.

Whether you have agreed with what President Obama has done over the last eight years or not, you have to admire and appreciate how he's facilitating the transition to a Trump administration.
