An employee for the Choctaw-Nicoma Park School District was arrested on child pornography complaints.
Authorities tell News 9, 49-year-old Forrest Nelson Freeman III was arrested on Monday. According to the district, Freeman is the director of the technology department.
Investigators served a search warrant at Freeman’s home, located in the 15000 block of Red Stone Dr. in Choctaw, on Friday. While searching the home, investigators say Freeman refused to provide passwords to his devices and instructed his wife not to provide passwords either. Several items were seized from the home.
Detectives were able to gain access to a Microsoft Surface Pro tablet at the Edmond Police Station and found more than 300 images of child pornography and videos on the device. According to investigators, the images found showed girls between the ages of 12 and 2 years old.
According to court documents, when officers attempted to arrest Freeman on Friday, they were told by family members that other members of the family were hiding him so he would not have to spend the weekend in the Oklahoma County Jail.
Freeman turned himself in on Monday for complaints of aggravated possession of child porn, distribution of child porn, and unlawful use of a computer. He was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on a $50,000 bond, which he has since posted.
The investigation, conducted by the OSBI's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) division along with the Edmond Police Department, has been ongoing since September.
The school district issued the following statement regarding Freeman’s arrest:
On Friday December 1, 2017, law enforcement notified the Choctaw-Nicoma Park administration that Forest Freeman III (an employee of our school district) was under investigation regarding child pornography. The safety of our students and integrity of our school district is always our top priority, and our district is fully cooperating with the police department in this ongoing investigation. Mr. Freeman was immediately suspended from his position and has since resigned. Mr. Freeman was employed for nineteen years in the district technology department. Mr. Freeman did not have any direct contact or supervision of any students in our district. As per the police, the investigation of Mr. Freeman does not include any school related issues, persons, students, or wrong doing on school property. The investigation of Mr. Freeman only revolves around matters outside of his employment with the school district.
