CCSO: 77 Pounds Of Marijuana Seized During Traffic Stop, 2 Arrested
CANADIAN COUNTY, Oklahoma - Canadian County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested two people in possession of nearly 80 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop.
Josue A. Riguer, 23, and Marwa M. Osman, 25, were both arrested Friday, May 11, after deputies located 77 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of the rental car Riguer was driving.
A deputy observed Riguer driving too closely to other vehicles and changing lanes unsafely on I-40 near mile marker 111 and 115. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana as he approached the vehicle.
Riguer was asked to exit the vehicle and wait inside of the deputy’s patrol car. According to reports, the deputy stated that Riguer was nervously biting his nails and repeatedly kissing a religious medallion necklace.
Authorities say Riguer admitted to having three ounces of marijuana but stated that he did not know the passenger he was traveling with very well, nor did he know what else was inside of the vehicle.
Riguer told the deputy the car was rented in California and that once he and the passenger reached Tennessee he was going to Dubai.
The deputy ran a check of Riguer’s license and it was determined that his license was suspended. When the deputy approached the passenger, 25-year-old Marwa Osman, she immediately started to cry and asked the deputy if she could “just talk to him for a minute,” according to reports.
Osman admitted to the deputy that there was a large amount of marijuana in the car and stated that she did not want to get into any trouble.
Both Riguer and Osman were placed under arrest and taken to the Canadian County Jail and booked on Trafficking Marijuana, Riguer was also charged for Driving Under Suspension. The two remain in police custody. Bond has been set at $101,000 for Riguer and $100,000 for Osman.
