A Grady County Sheriff’s Deputy is “back in the saddle”, just months after getting the scare of his life.

Doctors diagnosed 35-year-old Corey Loftice with Stage 4 Kidney Failure back in March. Loftice lost 40 pounds, was hospitalized, and had to take a lot of time off work. However, kidney dialysis three times a week, four hours a day has helped him regain weight, and strength.

Friday, Loftice patrolled the streets in Grady County for the first time since had gotten sick.

Two weeks ago, Corey’s name was added to the National Kidney Transplant List.

“The estimates I heard recently it will probably be the beginning of 2017. Uh, there’s a possibility it could be sooner,” he said.

Loftice said selfless fundraising campaigns for his family - three children, a fiancé, and step child, and the fact fellow Grady County employees donated vacation time and sick time to him, are big reasons why he is still in this fight.
