Testimony Begins In Trial Against Former OKC Police Officer

Testimony has begun in the trial against a former Oklahoma City police officer accused of sex crimes.

Daniel Holtzclaw faces a total of 36 felony counts for allegedly attacking 13 women while he was on duty.

What stood out was the defense team's attempts to make Holtzclaw likable to the jury of eight men and four women. The defense brought up his dreams to be in the NFL and then following his second dream of being a police officer.

Prosecutors said the evidence will show Holtzclaw betrayed his badge and attacked 13 women.

Holtzclaw continued to ignore the cameras as he made his way to the courtroom for day two of his trial.

During opening statements, state prosecutor Galen Gieger read to the jury each and every one of the 36 felony counts Holtzclaw faces. They include rape, burglary, stalking, sexual battery and other sex crimes.

Gieger is the state's top sex crimes prosecutor and he shared with the jury the stories of each of the 13 victims, all of which are expected to testify.

He also shared the type of technology the police department has to track officer whereabouts which he said helped investigators track down all of the women Holtzclaw is accused of attacking.

Holtzclaw's attorney Scott Adams tried to discredit the allegations by stating some of the women are now filing a lawsuit against both his client and the city. He further told the jury that some of their stories and the evidence just don't add up.

And one of those victims began her testimony Tuesday afternoon. She is expected to resume telling the jury what happened to her Wednesday morning.
