A Wal-Mart cashier speaks out after a customer, who said he had a gun, robs him at his register.

Police said this man waited for the right moment to make his move. He stole as much cash as he could off that register before taking off.

Police said it appeared to start off as an innocent interaction. The suspect with $10 cash in hand approached the cashier around 2:00 Wednesday morning, asking for a box of cigarettes.

“He automatically waited at register one,” said Wal-Mart cashier, Chad Erdman.

Chad Erdman said it seemed like the suspect knew exactly where to wait. He said register one is the only register at that time of night where someone can purchase cigarettes.

“And as soon as he handed me the money, the drawer popped open,” said Chad.

And that's when the man made his move. Chad already had the $10 bill the suspect gave him in his hand to pay.

But clearly this guy wanted more.

“He just jumped over the counter and started yelling that he has a gun, and left,” said Chad.

Chad said it seemed to happen within seconds. He stood there with his draw open yelling for help.

Customers even came over ready to check out, not realizing what just happened.

“I kind of went into shock,” said David. “I think he waited for everybody to go to lunch, or get off the floor, and I was the only person around almost.”

Chad believes the man got away with about $130 before he took off.

If you recognize the man in the surveillance video, call Oklahoma City Police or Crime Stoppers at 405-235-7300.
