My 2 Cents: Supporting Our Police Officers

I talked with Victoria Woods tonight, she's the Edmond businesswoman we featured earlier in the newscast who's giving out yard signs that show support for our police officers.

She told me she had to do something.

Apparently, a lot of people share that emotion, concerned that our beleaguered men and women in blue are not only in danger but also feeling unappreciated.
And some are stepping up to change that.

The Edmond police spokeswoman told me today a college student paid for an officer's lunch at an Edmond sandwich shop as a way of saying thank you.
And an anonymous couple bought the entire 20 member SWAT team $10 gift cards to a BBQ joint today while they were having a training lunch.

We've done it with our men and women who protect us overseas, showing our appreciation to our military service members, it's high time we did the same for those people who protect us here at home.

It can be as simple as telling an officer you come across during your day, "Thank you for protecting our community and my family."

You could pick up their lunch, or offer them a bottle of water, it doesn't have to be a big thing.

But now more than ever they need to know we have their backs like they've had ours.
