Emergency crews have their hands full with two separate crashes on heavily-traveled metro thoroughfares; one of which includes two suspects fleeing the scene.

The first crash took place on eastbound side of Interstate 40 just west of Air Depot in Midwest City.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), a box truck was traveling eastbound on the interstate when the driver lost control and the truck tipped on its side. Two people inside of the box truck then fled on foot and are still at large at this time.

Three other vehicles then crashed trying to avoid the overturned box truck. There has been no word on any serious injuries.

Authorities had to re-route traffic off of I-40 at SE 29th St. due to the collision. The roadway has since been cleared and traffic is back to moving normally in the area.

Shortly after the first collision, a second crash involving a jackknifed semi was reported on the eastbound side of I-44 near Western Ave.

Oklahoma City fire officials tell News 9 the semi was blocking two lanes of traffic on the highway, causing heavy congestion in the area. Authorities have not said if any other vehicles were involved or if anyone was injured.
