A Tornado Warning was in effect for Jackson and Tillman Counties until 4:45 p.m. A Tornado Warning was also in effect for Kiowa County until 4:45 p.m. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was in effect for Canadian, Grady, and Kingfisher Counties until 4:45 p.m.
Just after 4:50 p.m. a tornadic storm was reported moving out of Vernon,TX., toward Davidson and Hollister.
Around 5:20 p.m. circulation was spotted near Newcastle at Highway 9 with winds moving north, northeast toward Norman.
A Tornado Warning went into effect for northern Pottawatomie County just after 7:00 p.m. Circulation is headed toward Seminole County at US HWY 377. Shortly, after 7:30 p.m. the warning was dropped.
A Tornado Warning went into effect for Hughes and Okfuskee County around 7:40 p.m. It will remain until 8:15 p.m.
Storms continue to move through southwest Oklahoma and will continue to lift to the north and east through the afternoon and evening. Storms are already producing tennis ball size hail in far southern Oklahoma, and damaging winds to 100 mph. Storms will be capable of a few tornadoes as well.
As heavy rain persists, flash flooding will be an issue and could have severe impacts.
The tornado watch does not include the Oklahoma City metro at this time, but that could change, so stay alert this evening.
