Two Indiana men were arrested in Canadian County after sheriff's deputies discovered drugs and guns inside their van.

Around 7 a.m. Wednesday, a woman called 911 in distress while driving on I-40. The woman told dispatchers an old blue van with Indiana plates was riding too close to her bumper and the two passengers were flipping their middle fingers at her.

“They were intentionally messing with this woman, they were scaring her, not only were they tailgating her, they were pulling up beside her, making eye contact, showing and flashing body parts and swerving over at her," said Canadian County Undersheriff Chris West.

A Canadian County deputy caught up to the van, and pulled it over after it swerved through lanes and didn't signal.

Deputies said the driver was Jeremy Tyler Ferrell, 33, who said he swerved because he was sleepy.

The passenger was Ronald Eugene Jenkins II, 37. Authorities said both are from Indianapolis.

It wasn't long before drug dogs sniffed the van and found about a quarter of a pound of marijuana and the drug, THC smashed inside a dozen containers.

“They put the drugs in a big five gallon plastic bucket of dog food, I guess they were thinking the dogs' search would be disrupted by the dog food and they wouldn't smell the drugs, but they were still alerted to the narcotics.”

And that's not all, underneath the front seats, deputies found drug paraphernalia and two handguns, a semi-automatic Glock and a Cobra ENT Derringer.

"What were these guys thinking, they're hauling dope, they've got guns, and they're going to be behaving this way aggressively with another motorist,” West said.

Ferrell was listed as a registered sex offender with a history of assault and child molestation. Ferrell was also driving on a suspended license.

Jenkins had no record. Both were taken to the Canadian County Jail booked on drug and gun-related charges.
