The district said the term is offensive to some of its students, and would work with the community to explain why and that's what we'll be seeing Tuesday night.

The Native American Parent Committee and the Native American Student Services are hosting the forum from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. inside the Oklahoma City Schools Administration Building on Klein Avenue.

Organizers said there will be a chance for people to ask questions.

The school district has acknowledged this is an emotional issue for everyone. So far a new mascot name has not been named.
