Police Identify Man Found Dead On Road In SW OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY -

Police are investigating a homicide after a body was found on a road in southwest Oklahoma City, early Tuesday morning.

According to police, at about 2 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of S.W. 56th and S. Penn Avenue, after someone called to say they found the body of a man on the side of the road in front of a house.

Investigators and homicide detectives spent hours at the scene, gathering information and collecting evidence. 

Police identified the man as 26-year-old Lance Canter of Blanchard, Oklahoma. Canter was pronounced dead at the scene, and police said it appeared that he had been shot to death. 

No arrests have been made in this case. Anyone with information should call the Homicide tip-line at (405)-297-1200.

This is Oklahoma City's 50th homicide of 2014, according to police.
