OKLAHOMA CITY -

Police responded to a call on a 1st degree burglary in progress in the 8500 block of St. Michael Ct. in southwest Oklahoma City Thursday night.

Oklahoma City police said the victim was "hysterical and obviously very scared" after she fired one round at suspects attempting to break in through her back door.

As stated in the report, the victim said she was watching TV in her living room around midnight, when her doorbell rang several times. She asked who was there and turned on an overhead light. The victim said the doorbell then stopped ringing, and her back door started shaking. She grabbed her 9mm and took cover in the kitchen. The back door glass shattered, and the victim fired one shot at the back door.

The victim told police she "thought maybe it could be because of a status she put on Facebook about being alone." She also mentioned that she thought a truck followed her through the neighborhood around 10 p.m. when she left home to get food.

Officials investigated the scene and found one 9mm shell casing on the living room floor. They also noticed that one of the back windows had been pried open, but the victim said she didn't know if the damage to the window screen was new or old. Police said no fingerprints could be taken from the back door area. The victim's backyard and neighborhood was searched, but officers were unable to locate any suspects.

Several neighbors told police their door bells also rang around midnight, and other officers responded to a potential auto burglary that night in the same neighborhood.
