A woman is dead Saturday night in Pottawatomie County after gunmen opened fire on a car with three people inside.

Two gunmen are still on the loose and considered armed and dangerous from Wanette.

It was an unusual scene Saturday evening as officers tell News 9 a group of three people were all in a car heading to get something to eat, when a truck pulled up and two gunmen opened fire.

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office says it happened around 5:30 p.m. near Gaddy Rd. and Sandy Rock Rd as the three people were all in the driveway. That's when officers say Shane Pitts and Justin Moore pulled up and one of them fired at least 12 gunshots that killed one woman, critically injured a man and injured another woman.

"They are acquaintances of the suspects. The two suspects pulled up on this road behind me, south of here, and one of the suspects got out and opened fire on the car. All the victims were shot when they were sitting in the car," said Pottawatomie County Undersheriff, J.T. Palmer.

The shooting shook up nearby residents.

"I've been out here my whole life and there's never been anything like that around here, we don't live too far from where it happened and that's just crazy," said Tecumseh resident, Kevin Staff.

The sheriff's office has not released the names of any of the victims. The woman who died was taken to the Shawnee hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

A male victim was airlifted to OU Medical Center in critical condition. The other female victim suffered from a flesh wound and was treated on the scene.

Officers say they are actively searching the area for the two gunmen, but believe they both may be in Wanette, where they are from. Both men fled the scene in a dark-colored 2008 GMC Sierra pickup with a PBR rodeo sticker on the back and 20" Rock Star rims.

If you have any information about their whereabouts, please call 911 immediately.
