Firefighters use water from a pond to help put out a house fire in southwest OKC near Mustang Monday night.

Firefighters use water from a pond to help put out a house fire in southwest OKC near Mustang Monday night.

It took firefighters about three hours to fight this fire due to high winds, dry conditions and no water.

When firefighters got on scene, the home located near S.W. 59th Street and Cemetary Road was fully engulfed in flames. Flames could be seen a mile away.

There are no hydrants in this area, so water had to be pumped in. Firefighters made quick work of a nearby pond during the fight that water was pumped to the scene.

Crews were out most of the night keeping an eye on hot spots. The family is safe but a dog was killed in the blaze.
