Some of the metro's hard working cops took time out of their day to have a little fun with kids. It's part of the "Heroes and Helpers" program with Target, also known as "Shop with a Cop."
Oklahoma City police officers took kids from Martin Luther King Elementary shopping to help them buy gifts for the children and their families for Christmas. But it also allows the children time to form a unique bond with some of Oklahoma's best.
"For them to get to spend this quality time with an individual officer in uniform shows them the cops aren't here to hurt them, they're here to be their friends and to help them keep them safe. So for them to make one of these relationships with the officers is huge," said Peter Evans, Executive Director of the Oklahoma City Police Athletic League.
Twenty-five children in all were helped through Monday's program.
