Many Black Friday Deals To Extend Throughout Season

OKLAHOMA CITY -

Cyber Monday and Black Friday are now behind us, but that doesn't mean the deals have vanished. In fact, prices can continue to fall as Christmas draws near.

There were still plenty of people who crawled out of bed to brave the crowds in Oklahoma City on Black Friday. But that shopping ritual is starting to change with different store hours, more cyber deals and the sales still to come. This year, some of the low prices were seen days before Thanksgiving.

"I work in the mall, and I saw the prices were down [on Tuesday]," retail employee Bonnie Gull said.

Experts say those deals are not going away just yet.

"We'll see a lot of these deals continue on and off the closer we get to Christmas," Sarah Roe, News 9's money saving queen said.

Roe gives the following tips for the rest of the shopping season:

• Now is a good time to buy kitchen appliances and other home goods.

• The first two weeks of December is the best time to shop for toys.

• Clothes are cheaper after Christmas.

• Some of the best deals are online.

"More and more people are shopping online, and they're getting those deals early," Roe said. "They're beating the crowds."

Karen Dorfman is one of those online shoppers.

"I probably spent a couple hundred dollars doing online [shopping] this morning," Dorfman said.

Fifty percent of Dorfman's shopping will be done online this year, but she still likes Black Friday shopping. Although, Black Friday is not for everyone.

"There's too many people out shopping, and I just don't like it," Oklahoma City visitor Margie Escapa said.

Finally, strategy pays off!

Experts say it's smart to buy things a couple days before Christmas when there is still a large supply. Then, go back to the store and take advantage of price adjustments for all those post-Christmas sales. In order to save that money, it's important to check the store's price adjustment policy. Some stores require customers to come back within seven days. Other stores can range from 14 to 90 days.
