LINCOLN, Nebraska -

The Oklahoma volleyball team knew it was facing a tough task Thursday, going up against the No. 1 team in the country.

Unfortunately for the Sooners, they ran something a lot tougher in the form of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

The No. 1 Huskers steamrolled the Sooners in three sets (14-25, 11-25, 16-25) in the first game of the Ameritas Players Challenge.

The Sooners hit just .068 and had nearly as many attack errors (18) as they did kills (24). Keila Rodriguez and Morgan Reynolds each had six kills to lead the Sooners. Maria Fernanda led the defense with 12 digs.

Nebraska hit .383 as a team, led by Meghan Haggerty's .818 clip. Haggerty had nine kills on just 11 swings. Hannah Werth led the Huskers with a double-double of 14 kills and 13 digs.

The Sooners hung tough in the first set, leading 10-8 halfway through the set. However, Nebraska kicked it into high gear at that point, going on a 17-4 tear to take the first set.

The Sooners never led in the second set, and led only 1-0 in the third set before the Huskers took control.

The tournament doesn't get any easier for the Sooners, who face No. 19 Kentucky Friday night at 7 p.m.
