COLLINSVILLE, Oklahoma -

A section of U.S. Highway 169 north of Owasso will be dedicated Thursday in honor of Army Specialist Christopher Horton of Collinsville.

Horton was killed in action in Afghanistan on September 9, 2011, while assigned to the Oklahoma National Guard's 45th Brigade Combat Team.

Highway 169 between 106th Street North to 116th Street North will be designated the "Specialist Christopher D. Horton Memorial Highway".

State lawmakers, Senator Rick Brinkley and Representative David Derby authored a bill in the last legislative session approving the designation.

Horton is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
