KANSAS CITY -

The Oklahoma men's team came up short in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament Wednesday falling 62-53 to Texas A&M.

OU ends the season with a 15-16 overall record on the year and 5-14 mark in Big 12 play.

The Sooners not only broke down defensively-especially in rebounding, but also struggled to find offensive rhythm managing only 39.1 percent shooting on the night.

Despite the struggles, Oklahoma rallied midway through the second half to tie the game at 39-39 thanks to a layup by Sam Grooms.

But the spark was short lived for OU as three turnovers and two missed jumpers allowed Texas A&M to regain control that they would keep the rest of the game.

The first half was back and forth all night until Elston Turner hit a 3-pointer for the Aggies to go up 19-17 and they never looked back.

OU struggled rebounding all night long. Late in the first half OU was outrebounded 20-14 and on the game the Aggies corralled 36 rebounds to Oklahoma's 26.

A handful of those rebounds helped Texas A&M score 24 points in the paint compared to OU's 18.

Romero Osby paced the Sooners with 17 points and five rebounds while Sam Grooms finished with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Overall, OU shot just 39.1 percent from the field (18-46) and 18.2 percent from 3-point range (2-11).

The Aggies shot 39.1 percent on the night as four players scored in double figures.Khris Middleton has 15 points and seven rebounds while David Loubeau scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Turner finished with 14 points while Ray Turner added 12.

The Aggies advance to the quarterfinal round and will face No. 1 Kansas Thursday at 2 p.m.
