OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma City man with alleged ties to a Mexican cartel is wanted for kidnapping his estranged wife.

According to an Oklahoma City police report, Jaime Martinez, 36, kidnapped his wife as she returned home from work. Martinez allegedly forced his wife back into the car at knife point. At one point, the victim was put into the trunk of the car.

The victim managed to find the trunk release and escaped at a gas station in Texas. Martinez allegedly chased the victim, but then fled after a gas station employee called police.

In the report, the victim told police that Martinez has ties to a large Mexican drug cartel known as La Familia Michoacana. She also told police he had planned to turn her over to the cartel where she feared she would have been raped and tortured.

Martinez remains at large and faces charges of kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon and human trafficking.
