CANTON, Oklahoma -- Campers at Canton Lake survive the tornadoes by huddling in the campground bathroom.

Shauna Hoffman, Chris Hoffman, Dianne Kannard and Larry Kannard were at Canton Lake when the storm hit and tore apart the campground. Their camper was destroyed and they survived by holding on to each other in the concrete bathroom at the campground.  They only received minor scratches.

Authorities have decided to close Canton Lake's boat ramps and recreation boating is discouraged until the debris can be removed from the lake.

Two parks at the lake, Canadian and Longdale, will be closed as well.  But all other parks are open to the public.

Donnie Jenkins, a guide at Canton Lake, has told News 9 that the tornado started a half mile from the Canadian campground and devastated the campground, the trailer park and the trees in the area.

Jenkins says 2 to 3 dozen trailers were already at the park and that several of the people there rode out the storm in a concrete bathroom.
