GUYMON, Oklahoma -- City officials say the mayor of Guymon has died after suffering a ruptured aneurysm that caused bleeding around his brain.
City Manager Ted Graham said in a statement released Wednesday that Mayor Kenny Huckins died Tuesday of a subarachnoid hemorrhage, which occurs when blood collects in a membrane that surrounds the brain. He was 47.
According to the statement, Huckins served one year as mayor and three years on the Guymon City Council. Huckins was a volunteer firefighter for 22 years.
He is survived by his wife, Carla, three sons and a grandson.
A funeral for Huckins is tentatively scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at St. Peters Catholic Church.
