OKLAHOMA CITY -- A suspect in a fatal shooting Wednesday morning was found dead a few blocks away from the scene. According to police, 31-year-old Patrick Michael Vaught committed suicide.

Vaught had fled from the scene of a standoff near Yukon that lasted nearly five hours.

Police say Vaught had a warrant out for his arrest for first-degree murder.

Police surrounded a home south of Yukon in the 12000 block of Chisholm Spur where Vaught barricaded himself.

Vaught is believed to be a suspect in a fatal shooting of a woman in the 3000 block of N. Utah Avenue earlier Wednesday morning. According to police, the woman was also pregnant making the shooting a double homicide.

The medical examiner's office confirms it has the body of 33-year-old Shandy Roof, the owner of the home on N. Utah. Court records show Vaught and Roof were involved in a custody battle involving their 10-year-old son since August 2000. They were scheduled to go to trial on Monday, June 1, but the trial had been postponed until November 16.

Neighbors say they heard three or four gunshots just before 4 a.m.
