Chris Yu

He may not be used to the wind. But he's glad he escaped the cold! Chris Yu joined News 9 as a multimedia journalist in September 2022 after working at a TV station in Michigan.

Chris graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in broadcast journalism. He initially wanted to pursue the career because of his love for creative writing and photography. But what has kept him in the business is the ability to impact community. He enjoys telling stories that help those in need and keep the public safe. Also, he loves to tell animal stories, especially those involving dogs.

Chris started his career as a producer at a TV station in New Bern, North Carolina. While there, he eventually transitioned to the role of website manager. He then moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to work as an executive producer at another station.

Chris later decided to change his career path and take an on-air role. He worked as a reporter in Rochester, Minnesota, Paducah, Kentucky, and Kalamazoo, Michigan, before landing in Oklahoma City to join News 9.

Chris has worked at six stations total, and his Labrador retriever, Curly, has been with him at every stop. Chris also has a very mischievous cat, Snowflake. When not cleaning up the destruction that Snowflake causes, Chris enjoys photography, movies and trying new types of foods. He is a huge fan of basketball and football.
