OKLAHOMA CITY -- An owner of a fully restored 1915 Ford Model T said his vehicle was stolen from a southeast Oklahoma City home.

The owner stored the car in a trailer, which Harman Campbell believes the thieves wanted.

Campbell has restored vehicles for many years now, including a Model A engine he built from parts.

"They came out of western Oklahoma," Campbell said. "I gathered them up, Johnny Cash style, piece at a time."

In his hobby shop, he recently was able to start up the Model A engine.

"People just know he's the icon of Model T motors," Campbell's grandson Michael Wylder said. "This is where you come to get your problem solved."

Campbell has been building his 1915 Ford Model T Roadster since 1946.

"The motor came out of the Wichita Mountains, up on top of the mountain," Campbell said. "Then I rebuilt it, put it all together, worked on it about 10 or 12 years, getting it started."

Campbell's Model T was parked in his trailer on his friend's land in southeast Oklahoma City.

According to Wylder, a neighbor saw a car hook up to the trailer and speed off.

"I damn near cried when I found out it was gone," Campbell said. "I've had it forever."

Campbell said the car is worth $30,000, but he and his family said the money doesn't mean a thing.

"It's like losing a family member," Wylder said. "You spend blood, sweat and tears, years of your life customizing this vehicle...and it's gone."

There are Oklahoma tags on the black Roadster, AVR713. It was inside a 16-foot white car trailer from a home near SE 149 Street and SE Sunnylane Road.
