Four months have passed since Hurricane Ike came ashore north of Galveston,
Texas, devastating beach areas.
Workers in Galveston are still busy restoring the damaged beaches there. Crews
have been hauling in load after load of sand, building the beaches back up to
the way they were before the storm.
Much of the sand along Galveston Island was washed out to sea during Ike, so
workers are bringing in sand from nearby East Beach and Stewart Beach.
Residents welcome the move and hope it will help prevent future erosion.
Crews are expected to be finished with the beach project in March.
