OKLAHOMA CITY -- Two escaped inmates were arrested this morning after crashing a stolen vehicle into a brick wall, police said.

Edward Thompson, 40, and Anthony Varela, 36, escaped Friday morning from the Oklahoma City Community Correctional Center near Interstate 44 and the Broadway Extension.

Police said they made their way to southwest Oklahoma City where they allegedly stole a woman's car.

Officers tried to stop a car since it was ported stolen on Thursday. The suspects accelerated and a chase began

The chase lasted two minutes before the suspect crashed into a telephone pole and the car ended up in a brick wall, police said. The chase ended near S.W. 22nd Street and Westwood Boulevard.

Police said Thompson and Varela were still wearing prison uniforms with "inmate" written on them. They were taken back into custody and checked out at a local hospital.
