NEW DELHI, India (CNN) - Twelve hours of heavy rains collapsed a number of houses in Hyderabad, the capital of India's southern state of Andhra Pradesh, killing at least 11 people Saturday, according to a state official.
Another 24 hours of intense rain is predicted, raising concerns about more loss of life, said Ratna Prabha, the state relief commissioner.
These deaths bring to 26 the number of Indians killed in the region by rainfall over the past two weeks, he said. More than 3,500 homes have been damaged, he said.
Hyderabad is the main hub of India's thriving information technology sector.
