By now you've heard about Oklahoma County Commissioner Brent Rinehart's comic book that, he claims, is based on his political career & timeline. Hero Rinehart is out to save the world from the evil Sheriff and Oklahoma Attorney General, and let us not forget the devil... a.k.a. the gays.
The morning this story broke I knew my phone would be ringing again with the "I told you so"s that came from my friends and family when the Sally Kern story broke. And it happened. Even after bragging about our recession-proof city, NBA team and non-stop growth, my peeps back home in Texas are still convinced that I left greener pastures for a close-minded land town known as Oklahoma City.
I can't help but to think that the rest of the nation has the same reaction, especially after watching clips like THIS ON CNN. (click to view)
Of course, the "evil" don't dare to sit on the sidelines. The young Spencer Lucas of Oklahoma City posted THIS response on YouTube, (click to view) but I'm not really sure if he's helping or hurting his case. At least he's trying.
Either way, I wish our state can continue to grab national headlines that focus on our ecomony and future professional sports team - and not on the so-called humor that Brent Rinehart is dispensing among his constituents.
