CHANDLER, Okla. - A man accused of hitting and killing Lincoln County man last year has been charged with negligent homicide.

Matthew Bratvold is accused of hitting Chad Ginzl on Highway 66 near Wellston. According to investigators, Bratvold's pickup went off the road and rolled several times hitting Ginzl's motorcycle.

Diane Ginzl said she can't make sense of her son's death.

"The minute he got in that truck and turned the ignition on and stuck his foot on the accelerator, he pointed a loaded weapon at my son," she said. "He took him out."

Assistant District Attorney Clayton Niemeyer said Bratvold was speeding, between 88 and 103 mph when he lost control.

Niemeyer said no drugs or alcohol were involved.  The misdemeanor charge carries a possible sentence of up to a year in the county jail.

"It shows that if you're going to travel in a vehicle at an unreasonable manner and cause the death of another human being, you will be held accountable for it," Niemeyer said.

Bratvold and his lawyer declined to comment.
