Lt. Shawn Bankston made a special traffic stop Sunday evening on Interstate 44.

At around 6:45 p.m. Sunday trooper Bankston helped deliver a baby girl on the side of the highway.

Stacy and Lawrence Wright were on their way to a local hospital when they realized they weren't going to make it in time. They pulled over to the side of the highway at SW 57 Street and Lt. Bankston stopped to help. With the baby already crowning, the delivery went very quickly and smooth, said Bankston.

Baby Lauralei and mother are doing well. This is the Wrights' fourth child.
