NORMAN, Okla. - Looks like Number 3 Oklahoma will have to face 11th-ranked West Virginia in the Fiesta Bowl without cornerback Reggie Smith.

Trainer Scott Anderson said today Smith has a broken big toe on his right foot and won't be healed in time to play in the January 2nd game.

Smith has played in all 39 of OU's games since arriving on campus as a highly-touted recruit from Edmond Santa Fe High School.

He ranks fourth on the team with 78 tackles and also has three interceptions. He returned his lone fumble recovery of the season 61 yards for a touchdown against Miami.

Fellow cornerback Dominique Franks replaced Smith on defense and as the Sooners' punt returner after Smith was injured in the Sooners' Big 12 championship win against Missouri.
