An outbreak of severe weather is looking likely, and storms will try to develop in western Oklahoma Monday afternoon.
The main threats with these storms will be strong tornadoes, and hail that could reach the size of baseballs. Strong winds will also be a factor.
Storms approach the Oklahoma City metro late Monday afternoon, and during this timeframe, the low-level jet will really kick in.
This will ramp up the threat to "high" for a tornado. The ingredients are present for long-tracked tornadoes, but there are still some questions about how far to the south storms develop, so stay tuned to the forecast today as everything becomes more refined.
We do not know exactly where these storms will fire, but the ingredients for severe weather are maxing out the scales.
The majority of the state will have the chance for hail, including golf ball and quarter-sized.
As you plan out your day, please know where you and your loved ones will be in relation to the closet shelter or safe spot. A mobile home will not work on a day like Monday.
From 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tuesday morning, there is a moderate chance for tornadoes all across central and northern Oklahoma.
If storms are headed your way, and you decide to leave your mobile home to head for a safer place, do it early enough to avoid being caught. Do not get caught in your vehicle!
Many Oklahomans will not see severe weather today, so remember to stay alert, have a plan, and don't be scared. If you are prepared for the worst, you won't be caught off guard. Our team will be in the field and in the studio bringing you updates.
