A nice start to Friday, with light winds and a little fog in some low lying areas. Highs the next couple of days will still remain below average.

What is the weather like on Friday?

Temperatures will be hot on Friday, reaching into the 90s.

Highs on Friday.

There's a chance for isolated showers and storms over the next couple of days, but most folks will see a dry weekend.

Weekend weather.

You will really notice the increasing heat and humidity on Sunday. Highs will be in the low 90s, but the heat index will be around 100.

Feel-like temps through next week.

Next week our next heat wave builds. Dangerous conditions with feel-like temps over 105 degrees for several days.

EMSA HEAT SAFETY TIPS:

  1. PRE-HYDRATION is key in preventing heat-related illness. Drink plenty of water or electrolyte replacement drinks several hours before and during long exposure to the summer heat.
  2. Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and a wide-brimmed hat if working outdoors, and take plenty of shade breaks.
  3. No alcohol or caffeine.
  4. If you do not have air conditioning, find a cooling station or public space (such as libraries or malls) during the day.
  5. Don’t limit your use of air conditioning.
  6. Use the buddy system if working outdoors and check on elderly neighbors.
  7. Keep a cell phone on you at all times when outdoors, including walking, running daily errands, yard work or sports and physical activity.


What's the best way to keep me and my children safe while swimming?

Supervise Children:

  1. Always supervise children when they are in or near water.
  2. Active supervision by an adult can significantly reduce the risk of drowning incidents (OSDH).

Wear Life Jackets:

  1. Essential for both swimmers and boaters.
  2. Crucial safety equipment that can save lives in the event of an accident (Oklahoma Highway Patrol's Marine Enforcement Division).
