OKLAHOMA CITY - Two Oklahoma City Zookeepers are finalists for the Association of Zoos and Aquariums "Find Our Heroes" contest.

Oklahomans have until September 12 to vote for either Amy Mathews, a Senior Elephant Keeper, or Josh Lucas, a Lead Keeper of Herpetology. 

Amy began caring for OKC Zoo animals five years ago, she has participated in conservation efforts in Costa Rica, Belize, and most recently - Kenya, Africa, where she assisted in Grevy's Zebra Trust's reat Grevy's Rally!

Josh began caring for OKC Zoo animals six years ago, and has participated in global conservation efforts in Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, and most recently - Madagascar, where he assisted the Turtle Survival Alliancel with its rescue effort of nearly 11,000 critically-endangered radiated tortoises.

The AZA represents more than 230 zoos and aquariums which meet the highest standards in animal welfare. The OKC Zoo is the only one in the country to have two zookeepers make it to the top 10 finalists.
