Hot-Air Balloon Incident An 'Unfortunate Event,' Pilot Says
Emergency crews responded to an incident involving a hot-air balloon caught around a light pole, Saturday morning.
The event occurred shortly after 9 a.m., near North Pennsylvania Avenue and West Hefner Road.
Two people were on board when the balloon went down, according to officials.
The pilot of the hot-air balloon says the balloon landed safely before a heavy wind shift caused a snag.
“The balloon had landed safely on the ground in an open field when the wind shifted 90 degrees and caused the envelope to snag on a light pole. There was neither a crash or accident. Just an unfortunate event,” said Michael Scott with Flying High Balloon Services, LLC.
Officials say there were no injuries.
