SYDNEY -

Oklahoma Christian University graduate Philip Wood was on board flight 370 when it went missing in March of 2014. Now, his loved ones may have new hope.

First, investigators now recommend extending the search by nearly 10,000 square miles. This will push the search further north in the Indian Ocean.

Also, China has agreed it will help in this newly extended search as Flight 370  was en route from Malaysia to Beijing when the 239 passengers and crew disappeared, including 50-year-old Philip Wood.

These new developments come after investigators admitted for the first time they've probably been looking in the wrong place.
