While this is the most wonderful time of the year for most of us, it can also be the worst if you're the victim of scammers.

The Better Business Bureau is now sending out new warnings for last minute shoppers. Shopping through an app on your phone can be easier and overall more convenient. But scam trackers warn there are such things as fake apps.

Fake apps are shopping apps that look real but instead of you putting in your personal information to buy a Christmas gift, all you're really doing is just handing your credit card number and other personal information to scammers.

While the fake apps may look real, there are ways to be sure what you're doing is secure. The BBB recommends looking at the reviews of an app and see what people are saying. If there are no reviews or very few, approach with caution.
