A chimney in a house in the 2700 block of Guilford Lane, could not contain its fire Sunday night, resulting in flames and smoke covering a family's walls.

Oklahoma City firefighters quickly arrived on the scene of the 9,000 square foot home just before 11 p.m. The homeowners were able to escape without harm. Firefighters made their way into the home and extinguished the fire, and in the process they found the pet and removed it from the smoky home.  The pet was given oxygen by firefighters and is reported to be in good condition.

The fire was contained to the kitchen and firefighters determined it was accidental.  The home, valued at over one million dollars, sustained about $375,000 in damage and loss.
