Police Officer Involved In Scuffle At Downtown OKC Bank

<p>A police officer was involved in an altercation with a person inside a downtown Oklahoma City bank, Monday morning.</p>

A police officer was involved in an altercation with a person inside a downtown Oklahoma City bank, Monday morning.

The call went out about the confrontation at the Bank of America located in the 200 block of N. Robinson Ave., around 11:30 a.m.

Police tell News 9 the officer was responding to an unrelated call when he was flagged down by someone regarding a disturbance in the bank. Authorities say when the officer tried to person causing the disturbance into custody, an altercation ensued.

The suspect was taken into custody. Police have identified that man as 34-year-old Eric Maxwell. He was arrested on one count of assault and battery on a police officer.

The officer was identified as 46-year-old James Herlihy. 

The officer was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released. His injuries were not life-threatening.
