A carjacker targeted a metro-grandmother, but that grandmother fought back.

LD Linton said she was just pumping gas at the 7-Eleven on N. Mustang near Yukon Tuesday, when a woman in her 20’s approached her asking for a ride. Linton refused.

“I said I’ve gotta [sic] get my gas cap on before I forget it, and I just kinda [sic] stepped this way. She jumps in my car and reaches for the key, which I’d left in there, and [she] starts to turn it on. Well, I just jumped in right in front of her,” said Linton.

And the fight was on.

Linton moved her elbow up to the carjackers throat.

“I watch too much 48-hours. I thought, ‘Okay, If I can get my elbow up to her throat, I can make her get out’,” said Linton.

It worked. The would-be carjacker got out, but grabbed Linton ‘s wallet on the way.

“She grabs that gets out and runs. So, I chase her. And we go by the door and by 7-Eleven, and she goes into the trees,” said Linton.

Linton asked the 7-Eleven clerk to call for help, but the clerk refused. Linton was so shaken, she had a hard time calling police. By then, the failed carjacker was gone.

Linton wanted to thank the Oklahoma City police officer who helped her. She said he followed her home to make sure she was okay. Then, he went back to the gas station and found a necklace Linton had lost in the struggle.
