Luther Public Schools Locked Down Due To Manhunt For Michael Vance
LUTHER, Oklahoma - Luther Public Schools have been placed under a lock down due to the manhunt for a suspect wanted in connection to a multi-county crime spree, including the shooting of two Wellston officers and a double homicide investigation in Luther, Oklahoma.
Michael Vance Jr., 38, is accused of shooting two Wellston police officers, shooting and carjacking a woman near Wellston, killing two of his family members at their home in Luther, and shooting and trying to carjack another person in Sayre.
According to the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s office, Vance is believed to have returned to the Oklahoma County or Lincoln County area.
Luther Public Schools, located in the area of N.E. 178th Street and Ash Street, have been placed under a lock down.
Lincoln County Emergency Management said there is no credible information that Vance is back in the area but offered kudos to area schools for taking the precautionary measure for the safety of its students and faculty.
Law enforcement officials have established a hotline to deal specifically with tips regarding the search for Vance. That hotline number is (405) 246-9205 and will be manned 24/7 by U.S. Marshals.
