A stretch of roadway in Oklahoma City known for its speeding is on law enforcement's radar.
Police say Hefner Parkway is more commonly referred to as Hefner Raceway. Starting this weekend, they will be actively working to reverse that reputation.
According to OKCPD staff, traffic fatalities hit an all time high of 90 last year in the city. They say speeding drivers on roads like Hefner Parkway are adding to the problem.
Police will be increasing patrols in the area in hopes of making the area safer. They say it's not about increasing the number of tickets written but to save lives.
If you don't see the squad cars on the street, police say it's because they'll be using unmarked vehicles.
